Presidential Election 2012

Whats up Wreckless people?!

Ahhhh November 6, 2012 is here!!! YES ELECTION DAY!!! Which is crazy in so many ways because time is waiting for nobody at all!!! Ummm can I just get five minutes though?! This makes me realize how important it is to live in the present!!! Get over the past, stop worrying and crying about the future and do what you have to do TODAY! RIGHT NOW! THIS SECOND!

Anyway this morning I woke up early to prepare myself for election day. Of course I checked my social media, I have to admit I am a social media junky, I even logged on Pinterest just to see what was going on. I saw pictures of long lines, disappointing weather reports and complaints about how it may be difficult for others to vote.

So I did what any normal person would do and I laid back down in my bed. Don’t judge me! I needed to meditate, also known as sleep, and prepare myself for the hassle; makes sense to me.

After a few conversations with friends, I checked social media, yes again, and this time people were posting pictures of successful votes. There were stickers, pins, self portraits including ballots, huge smiles and most importantly notes of encouragement to get out there and do the same.

I have to be honest, I was extremely annoyed by the typical photos so I thought to myself , “If I’m going to document this experience, I have to do something different with my photos and that’s where it all started. I put on my most comfortable warm sweater, a long body coat and the shell toe hard core timberland boots and started taking pictures of my voting experience. Every photo was posted on twitter with a remix caption of the 2008 campaign, “rock the vote” Check it out!

If you follow me on twitter which you better! Things got carried away but I appreciate my humor and also saw some unique posts on Instagram that I appreciated as well. Check them out below.

Nonetheless my experience was quick! I was surprised! I didn’t even need my boots and coat to walk those long two blocks because it  was in and out. Clearly my roommate thought the same because when I returned she was eating breakfast naked in the living room. She looked up at me and said, “that was quick”.

I hope the experience was the same, referring to the quick vote, not the roommate, and if not please report your experience. I was listening to the radio and one caller announced that the scan machine was down at her voting location and they told her that they would scan it later. Please people do not fall for that!

I’m glad that I was able to do my part but learning from this year, I have to do more! Besides the presidential candidates, I didn’t know much about the other candidates. It was terrible! Even worst some elections only had one candidate as a selection which makes me even more worried about our political future. Declared as a democrat, I made my decisions accordingly but from here on out I vow to get more involved and knowledgeable about who are making important decisions about my life. We owe it to ourselves and to think that the presidential election is the only one important is extremely ignorant.

Even more ignorant news were people who were posting pictures of their ballots on social networks as well. I came across these announcements.

I’m glad that people are excited about voting but please lets be smart and DO BETTER!!!

Well now its time to hit the city and keep abreast with the election and enjoy some comedy!!! If you had similar experiences, comment and post below!!!

Stay wreckless people,
