Visualize your vision…

This past weekend was quite an experience! I went to DC to visit my illustrious and prestigious alma mater, Howard University(POW! in yo face), in celebration of the homecoming festivities. I honestly must say that there is NOTHING like the spirit of Howard and when I say NOTHING, I mean NOTHING. I am whole heartedly convinced that there is no school like my university. I’m sure this weekend was epic for many but even to be in DC you could feel the vibrant rhythms that echoes from the beat of the alum(that sounds so poetic) and current students during this time:-)

My weekend celebration was different compared to my first alumni homecoming and even those of when I was a student. However me being the responsible adult that I am(*cough* pats self on the back) I chose to handle my business first and celebrate after; Therefore my arrival being saturday in lieu of thursday evening or friday morning. Some would ask, “why did you even go to dc”? and I would respond, “any reason to be in dc is a good reason for me” lol. But my intentions were to “get it in” for homecoming so that’s all that matters. Anywho I ended up in dc saturday afternoon thanks to the extreme chaos of traffic which did deter me from going to the football game but I was able to meet up with former clients of mine(personal trainer status) and attended the swim meet(yes Howard has a swim team), Howard vs. American University(me being a former swimmer and all). Then later that saturday evening I performed at LOL comedy club in Temple Hills, MD(me being a comedian and all). So all in all I got a different taste of homecoming but it was well worth the trip!

The point? Ahhh yes I’m getting there:-) Revisiting the beginning of this blog when I mentioned the spirit of Howard University; this summer I was privileged, yes a privilege(she may laugh when I say this) to meet a current student, DeAnne Bradley, aka DJ. We connected immediately! After her seeing my performance in manhattan at Laugh Lounge, it didn’t even matter that we linked up through a social network, it was twitter if you must know and follow her! @deelbradley, but that’s just shows how strong of a power Howard holds. We are everywhere! Just waiting to be connected:-)

Back to the point. Right…. Yeah so prior to this weekend she planned a Vision Board brunch! And it sounds just as great as it was. Pretty much, a group people set a deadline to complete the vision board and present it to each other while eating delicious food, compliments of DJ, and sipping on mimosas and sangria, also compliments of DJ. Lol. When I heard the idea I was immediately down for the cause because none of my friends ever thought of this great idea(something that a group of friends should definitely do) and I was so ready to do a vision board more than ever specifically for this time in my life.

Now some may ask, “what’s is a vision board”? And if you did ask that then correct your self because what’s is already what is so you don’t need to put is after what’s. Anyway! A vision board is(pulls up a new tab and google) is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of your dreams and desires. This is a great way to place your goals into a visual concept. It also serves myself as a reminder of my focus and daily grind motivated lifestyle! The brunch was so great! This made my weekend complete and I’m so proud to say my vision board is complete as well. It was fun to make too! I don’t mind sharing it either! Take a look!

Aint it cute(begging for compliments)?! I included my short term/ long term goals, affirmations, inspiration, and the over all concept of becoming the entertainment mogul that I ought to be. Watch out now!!! *slip and slide, dip, krump back up with it*

Honestly if I don’t claim it who will?! So claim your vision and visualize it!

Happy wreckless visioning:-P

Aminah – Loved this post and I swear by vision boards! I wrote about it at the beginning of the year but plan to revisit that topic soon. Visualizing and claiming your future really is necessary in order to start moving in the right direction. Oh and very small world because I JUST met DJ when I spoke on a panel at HU a few weeks ago.
